 Caroline's Corner

This 2002 Holiday Season, my staff and I would like to tell each of you how much we appreciate your business!

Without you (our loyal clients), Caroline & Company would not exist. Secondly, a great big THANK YOU for all the phone calls and cards-of-concern following my recent backyard-hammock tumble.

My collarbone is mending nicely; and NO, there wasn't anything extra in my tea that afternoon.

Hope to stay in touch,

Holiday Stress in Today's Business World

The Thanksgiving and Christmas holidays can be the most wonderful time of the year.  It's also the busiest, especially for those trying to balance a hectic professional life with the endless hours of shopping and other trimmings that accompany the holiday season.

For help in coping with the demands placed on the entrepreneur during this busy time, check out the ABC's of Small Business and their suggestions for stress minimization.

Weird Business Trivia

On Christmas Eve in 1926, the world's first singing commercial aired on radio for Wheaties Cereal. The Wheaties Quartet was comprised of a businessman, an undertaker, a printer and a bailiff. The group preformed the jingle for the next six years for $6 per man per week.

Turkey Contest Winners Announced

During November, we invited website visitors to register for our “get even – eat a turkey” contest.

The following winners were chosen in a random drawing December 2, 2002:

Tofle, Hajicek & Oxenhadler, Attorneys, P.C., have won dinner (perhaps turkey) for-two at the Colosseum Bistro.  Secretary, Leslie Marklin, who entered on the firm’s behalf, was thrilled when she heard the news.  She said the office attorneys and staff would all go out for appetizers some Friday.

Cathy Rupard, Manager, Midwest Mailing Services, was the winner of the plump “you-are-cooking” turkey from Nowell’s Supermarkets.  When asked what method she planned to use to prepare her bird, Cathy said, “I’m a roaster.  I’d like to be a fryer!  But, I don’t trust myself with that much grease.”  Cathy plans to share her prepared turkey with her co-workers at Midwest Mailing.

Marva Miles, Human Resources Manager, Columbia Daily Tribune, has won yummy sliced turkey from HoneyBaked Ham Co.  When told the contest results, Marva said, “Traditionally, I’m not picked out of the hat!”  Marva indicated the prize would come in handy – she has two 16-year-old twins and a husband at home.
