 Caroline's Corner

Have you ever noticed that exciting things happen in the spring? It sure seems that way to me this year.

On the personal front, you can now call me a "mover and a shaker." On a recent vacation to Purto Vallarta, Mexico, while I was out for one of my scenic daily walks, I experienced an earthquake. My friends and I are fine; but you should have seen those shoes fly in that store window.

On the business front, Caroline & Company has a new vital member, Holly Schneider. She is a real "Jewel." I just know you'll love working with her. We all do.

When you're out and about Columbia, stop in. We'll gladly show you how we do our staffing magic.

Hope to stay in touch,

 Meet Our New Addition

We’re betting many of you already know our new manager, Holly Anne Schneider.  She has lived in Mid-Missouri her whole life, is a former board member of the Columbia Tiger Quarterback Club and is a graduate of Leadership Columbia. Holly worked for years as a real-estate loan officer at the Columbia branch of Callaway Bank, and most recently was a business developer for a national, physician recruitment firm.  As you can see, Holly has a long history of outstanding customer service, management and community involvement.  In our opinion, she is a walking example of excellence, quality and professionalism.  Why not give her a call at: 573-449-3109 and see for yourself.

Office Romance: Wrong or Right?

Are you currently in an office romance?  Does your company have policies against inner-office relationships?  Have you hesitated asking out someone you work with, fearing potentially uncomfortable situations if the relationship failed?

You aren't alone. One in two employees has either been, or will become involved in an office romance.  The workplace, bad or good, is one of the most common places for people to connect.

However, before jumping into a relationship at work, you should take a number of factors into consideration.

When making your office-romance decision, do it responsibly!  Remember, there are cons as well as pros.

Dads Expecting a Baby: Paternity Leave and the Family Medical Leave Act

The Family Medical Leave Act requires businesses with 50 or more employees to grant up to 12 weeks unpaid leave to workers after the birth or adoption of a child, as well as in the case of a family illness. While the majority of people are aware of the benefits extended to women under this law, many are not aware that men are also eligible for paternity leave.

If you are a soon to be father, check out Baby Center's article on your paternity leave rights. Not sure how to request paternity leave, or how to get more information? They have an extensive guide that will answer all your questions

 Spring Romance Drawing Winners Announced

During February and part of March, we asked our website visitors to register for our “ need a little sparkle and romance” contest.

The following winners were chosen in a random drawing March 10, 2003.

Terri Lukehart, Cooperate Services/Personnel Assistant, MFA Incorporated, and President of their Employee Activities Association, was taken off guard when she was told she had won a delicious dinner-for-two at Chris McD’s Restaurant and Wine Bar.  When ask about her plans for her prize, Terri indicated she would be sharing – perhaps her favorites (steak, shrimp and cheesecake) – with her friend, Brian.  Sounds yummy!

Kristina Garrett, Administrative Assistant, Central Region Blue Cross Blue Shield of Missouri, was pleasantly surprised when she found out she had won lovely fresh flowers from Kent’s Floral Gallery and Gifts.  Kristina who has worked for Blue Cross Blue Shield for nearly two years said, “ I’ve never won anything before!  This is great.”  Kristina favorite flowers are lilies – all varieties.
