SOCKS FOR KIDS -- BIG SUCCESS

Socks For Kids – the recent Holiday effort for the abused and neglected children served by Columbia’s Rainbow House – was a huge success.  During the 5-week campaign, spearheaded by area staffing service, Caroline & Company -- 3,446 pairs of new socks were collected.

According to C & C owner & executive, Caroline J, Maher, “The mountain of socks in our front lobby was as varied in size and style as the caring individuals, area businesses, schools, day cares and local media that generously contributed.  We owe all our Holiday elves a BIG thank you.”

It is projected the campaign provided enough socks to cover the toes of every child, age newborn to 18, that will be given temporary emergency shelter at Rainbow House during the coming year.

When asked about her opinion of the results of the Socks For Kids campaign, Sharon Tepper, Rainbow, executive director, said, “We are thrilled!  This will save us thousands of dollars.”  The people of Mid-Missouri are the best.”

The front-line positive impact of Socks For Kids was summed up by Rainbow’s shelter coordinator, Vicki Davolt, who indicated, “Throughout Christmas our kids kept referring to their new foot-coverings as ‘fancy feet’.  They are really enjoying having fun, new socks.”

In order to better serve children in need, Rainbow House is in the process of building a new, much larger facility at, 1612 Towne Dr., Columbia, MO.  Individuals who wish to contribute building supplies, labor or funds are encouraged to call: 573-474-6600 for more information.
