Top Drawer -- Giving

Socks & Undies For Kids, a recent holiday donation drive for abused and neglected children and families in crisis served by Columbia's Rainbow House, met and exceeded its original goal of 6,000 to 7,000 items.  During the six-week campaign, 19,477 new pull-ups, diapers, pairs of underwear, socks and more -- including games, toothbrushes, new winter hats and gloves, and baby wipes -- were collected.  Savings to Rainbow's budget totaled about $12,000.  Final donation counts might come close to 20,000 items.  The effort, spearheaded by area staffing service Caroline & Company, will meet or nearly meet the needs of more than 400 children this year.
