Neighborhood Roundup

More than a month into a campaign to secure underwear and socks for needy children, Rainbow House officials are still seeking donations.

The shelter's Scoks, Undies & Jammies for Rainbow House Kids campaign runs through Thursday and is still far from its goal of gathering 20,000 items before Christmas.

"Donations since Nov. 18 have only reached 1,200 items," spokeswoman Barbara Carman said in a news release sent last week.  Rainbow House is asking for "tasteful" donations that include pajamas, slippers, underwear, pull-ups and diapers in any size.  Residents range in age from infants to 18.

"Last year we collected over 20,000 items and it is virtually gone," Carman said in an e-mail.

Donations can be dropped off from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. through Thursday at Caroline & C0., 311 S. Providence Road.  For more information, call 449-3109.
